Grace Haven Pet Shelter
The purpose of the onsite pet shelter for Safehome residents is to break down another barrier that keeps people in unsafe and abusive relationships. Nearly 40% of survivors report that their abusive partner had threatened to harm or kill their pets. Grace Haven offers a safe space for pets to recover alongside their owners.
Safehome is the only domestic violence organization in the state of Kansas with an onsite pet shelter for its residents to utilize. Built brand new in 2025, this state-of-the-art facility is equipped with 6 dog kennels, large enough for bonded pairs to stay together, 8 cat kennels, a dedicated room for bathing & veterinary care, and two fenced-in areas for exercise & play.
